Use the seven-day handoff as a real transition point

A seven-on, seven-off cycle creates a long and obvious handoff between crews. Define what transfers at that point: open tasks, equipment status, customer commitments, incidents, and any work that cannot wait until the next shift. The end of the week should not depend on one person remembering to pass along every detail.

Review the week as a coverage block, not as seven independent days. Put known peaks, leave, training, and maintenance on the calendar before assigning names, then check that the necessary roles are present for every day of the run. A long block makes a single missing capability more consequential.

Publish a calendar that distinguishes the base week from extra cover or a temporary changeover. That keeps the off-week meaningful and makes it clear whether a staff member is working an agreed exception or has moved to another crew.
