DDNNOO runs a 6-day cycle: two 12-hour day shifts, two 12-hour night shifts, then two days off. Unlike 2-2-3, each crew rotates through both day and night within the same short cycle. Three crews offset by two days keep one crew on days and one on nights every single day, so the site is covered 24/7 with just three teams.

Plan DDNNOO around the day-to-night change

This pattern’s defining feature is the move from two day shifts to two night shifts before the off block. Make that transition clear in the published calendar and ensure the crew knows which date begins the cycle. A wrong reference date produces a schedule that looks plausible but puts the day/night change in the wrong place.

Review the required roles across both shift types. A team may have enough people on each block but still miss a qualified lead, equipment operator, or escalation contact at night. Build that capability check into the planning process rather than relying on a headcount alone.

Use the two off days to preserve the base pattern, not as a place to hide ordinary staffing gaps. If training, leave, or overtime creates an exception, identify who approved it and update one current calendar so employees see the same information.
